ParticipantMy vet just recommended Farmina cat food – apparently it’s an Italian brand with “science based” formulas? She said it’s really popular in Europe and gaining traction here.
I’ve never heard of it before but the ingredient lists look impressive! Lots of protein, quality ingredients, and they have grain-free AND grain-inclusive options which is nice.
Has anyone here tried Farmina? Is it worth the premium price? How do your cats like it? I’m curious about the N&D (Natural & Delicious) line specifically.
Would love to hear real experiences before making the switch! The brand seems legit but I want honest opinions from actual cat parents!
Thanks everyone! ๐๐พ

ParticipantFARMINA IS AMAZING!! ๐๐ฎ๐น We switched to the N&D line (chicken & pomegranate formula) 7 months ago and WOW what a difference. My cat’s coat is ridiculously soft and shiny now. The kibble pieces are small and crunchy she loves the texture. Her digestion improved immediately smaller, firmer poops. Energy levels through the roof. The Italian formulation is seriously impressive – you can tell they put research into it. Yes it’s pricey (about $3.50/lb) but the quality is top-notch. My vet was thrilled when I told her we switched! Highly recommend! ๐โจ

ParticipantMy cat didn’t take to it unfortunately ๐ I think the kibble was too small and hard for him? He prefers larger, softer pieces. Tried both dry and wet formulas same result. He’d eat a little but wasn’t enthusiastic. Quality looked excellent though. Just didn’t match his preferences. Donated the bags to a shelter where other cats loved them. ๐ฑ๐

ParticipantWAIT THIS SOUNDS PERFECT!! ๐ My cat has food sensitivities and I’ve been looking for science backed options. The fact that your VET recommended it gives me confidence. Ordering the starter kit right now. Which formula is best for sensitive stomachs?? So excited to try this. Thanks for posting! ๐โจ

ParticipantVeterinary perspective here! ๐ฉโโ๏ธ Farmina is one of my top recommendations. They have a strong research team and work with veterinary nutritionists at University of Naples. The formulas are backed by actual science, not just marketing. They use quality protein sources (70% animal ingredients in N&D line!), add functional ingredients like pomegranate and pumpkin for antioxidants, and have excellent digestibility ratings. The grain-inclusive options are great for cats where grain-free isn’t necessary. Really impressed with this brand from a professional standpoint. ๐โจ

ParticipantPRICE COMPARISON (because I’m obsessed with value!): ๐ฐ
Farmina N&D: $3.50-$4.00 per pound
Orijen: $4.50-$5.00 per pound
Wellness CORE: $2.80-$3.20 per pound
Blue Buffalo: $2.50-$3.00 per pound
Royal Canin: $3.00-$3.80 per poundSo Farmina is definitely premium-priced but not the MOST expensive. The quality-to-price ratio is actually excellent. My cat eats less because it’s nutrient-dense, so bags last longer. When you calculate cost-per-feeding instead of cost-per-pound, it’s very competitive. ๐๐พ

ParticipantTHE KIBBLE SIZE IS PERFECT!! ๐ป My cat used to swallow larger kibbles whole without chewing (gross lol). Farmina’s small kibble size forces her to actually CRUNCH them. Better for dental health! Plus she seems to enjoy the eating process more – takes her time, chews properly. The texture is crunchy but not rock-hard. Just right! She gets so excited at mealtime now. ๐๐

ParticipantFUNCTIONAL INGREDIENTS ARE GENIUS!! ๐๐ฅ Farmina adds ingredients like pomegranate (antioxidants!), pumpkin (digestive health!), blueberries (immune support!), and spirulina (nutrients!) to their formulas. It’s not just meat it’s a complete nutritional system. My cat’s overall health has improved fewer hairballs, better digestion, shinier coat. The science-based approach really works! These ingredients serve actual purposes. ๐ชโจ

ParticipantFound it at independent pet stores. ๐ช Farmina isn’t sold at big chains like PetSmart/Petco usually they focus on specialty retailers. Check local boutique pet stores or order from Chewy. The specialized distribution means staff at these stores are actually knowledgeable about the brand and can help you choose formulas. I love supporting small businesses anyway. ๐๐ฑ

ParticipantFARMINA N&D VS ORIJEN (both premium brands):
I’ve fed both extensively, here’s my breakdown:
Farmina wins for:
Better price point (more affordable!)
Wider variety of protein sources
Functional ingredients (pomegranate, pumpkin, etc.)
Better digestibility (smaller poops!)
Grain-inclusive options availableOrijen wins for:
Slightly higher protein percentages
Regional ingredients emphasis
Stronger brand recognition in US
Freeze-dried coating (some cats prefer)My verdict: Both are excellent! Farmina offers better VALUE for the quality. The science-based formulation gives me confidence. I prefer Farmina for everyday feeding. ๐๐พ

ParticipantPERFECT FOR FOOD SENSITIVITIES!! ๐ฏ My cat has chronic digestive issues and the Farmina Quinoa Digestion formula changed our lives. It has herbal extracts specifically for gut health. Her vomiting stopped completely within 2 weeks. The limited ingredient approach with functional ingredients is perfect. If your cat has tummy troubles, TRY FARMINA. Different lines for different needs! ๐๐

ParticipantEuropean quality standards. ๐ช๐บ Farmina is made in Italy and Serbia with European ingredient sourcing. EU has stricter regulations on pet food than US in many ways. Gives me confidence in quality control. The brand has been around since 1965 in Europe that’s decades of experience. Recently expanded to US market. Not some trendy startup established company with proven track record! ๐โจ

ParticipantMULTI-CAT SUCCESS!! ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฑ I have three cats with totally different needs one overweight, one with allergies, one kitten. Farmina has specific formulas for each! Vet & Wellness line for my chubby boy, N&D Limited Ingredient for my allergy girl, and Kitten formula for my baby. All three thriving on different Farmina products! Love that one brand covers all needs! Makes shopping easier. ๐๐พ

ParticipantOne year with Farmina and we’re LIFERS!! ๐๐ฎ๐น My cat Bella has never been healthier perfect weight, stunning coat that feels like silk, excellent energy levels, beautiful teeth, just glowing with health! Every single vet visit they comment on how gorgeous she looks! The science based formulation really makes a difference you can SEE the results. Yes I spend about $60/month on her food but she’s worth every penny.
The Italian quality and research-backed nutrition gives me total confidence. Plus she absolutely LOVES the taste gets excited every mealtime! Farmina combines European quality standards with cutting-edge nutritional science best of both worlds. If you want premium nutrition backed by actual research (not just marketing hype), TRY FARMINA! The transformation in your cat’s health and appearance will amaze you. Shinier coat, better digestion, more energy, healthier weight real, visible results! Your cat deserves science-based nutrition! Highly recommend. ๐ป๐๐

ParticipantMy cats love Farmina Cat Food, especially the N&D dry recipes. I mix it occasionally with some Nutra Nuggets for texture, and they always finish every meal. Compared to Kirkland or Natureโs Domain, the ingredients feel more natural and high quality. My indoor catsโ digestion has improved, and their coats are shinier. Even my picky eater seems excited to eat now. Iโve tried both the wet and dry formulas, and rotating them keeps things interesting. Portioning is simple, and I feel confident feeding them something wholesome and nutritious.
