ParticipantI just wanted to drop in and share something about Triumph Cat Food because I recently picked up a few of their cans on a whim mostly the Triumph turkey, chicken & liver, and ocean fish formulas. I honestly didn’t expect much, but my cat surprised me… she actually enjoyed it more than some of the pricier brands I’ve tried.
I’m still figuring things out though. For example, I’m curious about the ash content, the iron levels, and whether anyone has had issues with certain batches (I heard some people talking about quality control, maybe even past recalls?). Also has anyone used the Triumph Wild Spirit or Free Spirit dry food lines? And why is it so hard to find the 13.2 oz cans in stores these days? Are some formulas discontinued?
If you’ve tried Triumph wet food, dry food, or even the special ones like Hi Tor Triumph Kidney formulas, I’d really like to hear how your cats reacted. Good? Bad? Totally refused it?

ParticipantI’ve used Triumph canned cat food on and off for years, mostly the turkey and ocean fish formulas, and honestly my cats rotate between liking it and totally ignoring it 😂. I’ve also noticed that the 13.2 oz cans are way harder to find now maybe certain flavors got discontinued? The ash content isn’t terrible from what I remember, but batches can be inconsistent. For comparison, mine actually digest Triumph a bit better than Kirkland Signature but not as well as Pure Cravings. If you try the Triumph Wild Spirit dry food, let me know I’m curious too.

ParticipantMy older boy used the Hi Tor Triumph kidney formula for a few months, and it worked okay, but the texture was super mushy compared to the regular Triumph turkey canned cat food. I never had issues with recalls personally, though I know there were rumors about quality control. The iron levels seemed fine after I compared them to Nutra Nuggets and Nature’s Domain. I agree the 13.2 oz cans are nowhere lately, and Petco staff gave me a blank look when I asked 😭. If your cat likes the Triumph wet food, that’s already a win.

ParticipantTriumph chicken & liver canned cat food used to be my go-to because it was budget-friendly but not complete junk. My picky girl liked it more than Friskies but way less than Pure Cravings. I haven’t tried Triumph Free Spirit dry food yet, but a friend said it’s pretty average not horrible, not amazing. As for ash content, Triumph never lists it clearly, which annoys me. I do think the ocean fish formula has more minerals overall. If you want low ash, Nutra Nuggets performs better in my experience.

ParticipantI JUST had an issue with Triumph canned cat food a few months ago not a recall, but the texture in the salmon formula was weirdly rubbery. I heard people saying they found “cartilage” pieces, which freaked me out a bit. My cat ate it anyway 😭. The Triumph wet cat food isn’t bad, but consistency varies too much to rely on it. I’ve been switching between Triumph turkey, Nature’s Domain chicken, and Pure Cravings tuna pouches. Honestly, Pure Cravings is the only one that hasn’t given me any digestion issues so far.

ParticipantMy two cats flat-out refused the Triumph beef formula canned cat food. Not even a lick. But weirdly, they love the Triumph turkey formula canned cat food 13.2 oz… which is exactly the one I can’t find anymore ❗ Why does every food they like vanish from stores?? I tried ordering from Amazon Triumph listings, Walgreens, even Walmart. Nothing. I’m starting to think Triumph discontinued half of their lineup. Compared to that, Kirkland Signature is so easy to find and cheaper too. Triumph keeps making me work too hard lol.

ParticipantI’ve used Triumph Wild Spirit cat food before. It’s okay nothing special but better than some budget foods. It doesn’t upset stomachs, which is a big plus for me. The dry Triumph cat food has smaller kibble, so my older cat actually prefers it over bigger brands. But for nutrition, I feel like Pure Cravings and Nature’s Domain still win. Triumph is kind of “neutral”: not bad, not fantastic, just reliable on good days. Never had recall issues personally but I know others have complained about rubber pieces in certain cans.

ParticipantMy cat only likes Triumph chicken and liver cat food if I warm it up slightly otherwise she acts like I gave her poison 😂. The calories are decent, and I like that it doesn’t smell too fishy. I also noticed the iron levels seem pretty normal based on the label, but the phosphorus seems a bit higher than Pure Cravings or Nutra Nuggets. I DO think Triumph premium cat food has better texture than the old-school Friskies Supreme Supper. But quality control really depends on the batch. Some cans are smooth; others look chunky in weird ways.

ParticipantI reached out to the company last year asking who makes Triumph cat food, and they said it’s produced by Sunshine Mills. That explains the availability issues because Sunshine Mills has had supply chain problems before. I think that’s why some Triumph cat food 13.2 oz sizes disappeared. I’ve used Triumph canned cat food for years, though, and I’ve never seen a recall on the specific formulas I buy. Compared to Kirkland and Nature’s Domain, Triumph is more inconsistent but still decent when you get a “good batch.”

ParticipantFunny enough, my kitten LOVED the Triumph turkey formula for kittens canned cat food 5.5 oz when nothing else worked not even Nutra Nuggets or Kirkland Signature kitten formula. I don’t know what’s in that specific recipe, but it worked wonders for his appetite. I haven’t tried the dry Triumph cat food yet because I heard the Wild Spirit line has huge kibble pieces, but maybe that was an older bag. Also, YES the Triumph ocean fish formula is impossible to find now. Maybe they’re quietly discontinuing older flavors.

ParticipantMy cat does great on the Triumph salmon formula canned cat food, but only the smaller cans. The big 13.2 oz cans always have a weird watery layer on top that she hates. Triumph canned cat food nutrition isn’t bad, but it’s not as clean as Pure Cravings or some of the higher-quality salmon foods. If you’re worried about ash content, try checking the guaranteed mineral analysis it gives rough clues. I personally mix Triumph with Nature’s Domain to balance things out a bit. My cat eats better when I rotate foods anyway.

ParticipantI tried Triumph turkey cat food as a cheaper alternative to Tiki Cat, and honestly it wasn’t that bad. My cat liked it better than expected, but I had to mash it because the texture is denser than most canned foods. I also tried Triumph premium chicken and liver cat food, which she tolerated well. No vomit, no diarrhea surprising 😂. My biggest complaint is that Triumph canned cat food quality control really varies. One can was perfect, the next was full of hard chunks. Compared to Pure Cravings, Triumph definitely loses consistency points.

ParticipantI had a stash of Triumph chicken n liver formula canned cat food that I bought when it went on sale, and I swear every can looked different. Some smelled fine, others smelled “metallic.” My cat still ate it though, so I guess that’s a win? I’ve also seen people on Reddit complaining about Triumph canned cat food rubber pieces, but I never found any personally. For what it’s worth, Triumph dry cat food reviews from my local Petco shoppers are super mixed. Some love the Free Spirit line, others say their cats refused it instantly.

ParticipantMy IBS kitty actually did better on Triumph ocean fish cat food than on Nature’s Domain, which shocked me because I expected the fish formula to make things worse. I also tried Pure Cravings tuna at the same time, and both seemed gentle on her stomach. The calories in Triumph canned cat food are a bit lower than some other brands, so I had to feed more. As for the iron levels, Triumph premium cat food seems pretty average based on the label. I’d say give it a try and monitor digestion closely.

ParticipantI saw Triumph wet cat food on clearance at Pet Goods and grabbed a ton of the chicken and liver cans. My cats ate it happily for a few days, then suddenly acted like it was poison 😂. I think Triumph has one of those flavor profiles cats get tired of quickly. Compared to Kirkland Signature or Nutra Nuggets, Triumph smells a bit stronger too. I’ve never found the Triumph 13 oz ocean fish cat food locally only online. Maybe stores stopped stocking the big cans because they weren’t selling enough.
