ParticipantI switched to Freshpet Vital cat food because my senior kitty stopped liking traditional wet food. She licked the bowl clean the first time! I think the refrigerated texture makes a huge difference for older cats. I store the roll in the fridge and slice it into little portions. Someone asked if you can freeze Freshpet cat food yes, you can! I do it all the time for convenience. Just thaw it in the fridge before serving so the texture stays soft and moist.

ParticipantDoes anyone else have trouble finding Freshpet cat food near them? It’s always out of stock at PetSmart! My cats are obsessed with the Select chicken and beef recipes. I noticed it’s not as widely available as the dog food version. Also, a friend once asked me if Freshpet dog food is safe for cats definitely not recommended. The nutritional balance is totally different. I stick with the Vital cat food rolls and mix in a bit of dry kibble like Nature’s Domain for texture.

ParticipantI was nervous about trying a refrigerated brand, but Freshpet Vital cat food has been a total win. My cat used to ignore her wet food, but she begs for this one! I like that it’s made with simple ingredients and no weird preservatives. It’s pricier than brands like Kirkland Signature, but the freshness justifies it. Also, FYI, Freshpet does make food for cats it’s not just for dogs! I buy it at Walmart or Target since it’s kept in the fridge section by the pet food aisle.

ParticipantJust a heads-up for anyone using Freshpet cat food: check for recalls occasionally. I remember there was one batch issue last year, but nothing major lately. I get the refrigerated chicken flavor, and it smells almost like cooked meat. My cat won’t eat canned food anymore after switching. I tried freezing small portions, and it works fine just don’t microwave it! Also, for anyone wondering, Freshpet dog food isn’t safe for cats; it lacks taurine and other key nutrients they need.

ParticipantI feed my kitten the Freshpet Vital grain-free chicken formula, and she’s thriving on it! Her coat is super shiny, and she’s gained healthy weight. The refrigerated rolls are easy to portion, though they can be a bit messy. I used to rely on Blue Wilderness wet food, but Freshpet feels more natural. I buy it from Chewy since stores nearby rarely stock it. Definitely worth it if your kitten refuses traditional canned food it smells like real meat instead of that strong canned scent.

ParticipantFreshpet cat food feels like a middle ground between homemade meals and commercial brands. I love the convenience just slice and serve! My picky eater goes wild for the Select formula. I’ve read some say you can feed small bits of Freshpet dog food to cats, but I wouldn’t risk it. Cats need taurine, and dog recipes don’t have enough. Also, make sure to check the feeding chart; I overfed at first because it’s more nutrient-dense than kibble. Now, portioning right keeps my cat’s weight perfect.

ParticipantHonestly, I wish I had tried Freshpet Vital cat food sooner. My cat’s digestion has improved so much! She used to vomit occasionally on dry food like Nutra Nuggets, but not anymore. The fresh, refrigerated texture seems easier on her stomach. It’s great to know you can freeze extra portions too super handy when buying the bigger rolls. I get mine from Chewy when it’s out at Walmart. Just remember to use it within a week or so once opened to keep it fresh.

ParticipantFor anyone on the fence about switching to Freshpet cat food, I say go for it. The refrigerated rolls are pricier, but my cats love them way more than canned food. I use the chicken and salmon Freshpet Vital recipes. I also checked yes, Freshpet definitely makes food specifically for cats! My vet even approved of it as a balanced diet. Compared to Pure Cravings and Kirkland Signature, this feels like feeding something genuinely fresh and wholesome every day. Totally worth it for healthier, happier cats.
