Blackwood cat food Bounty line has been great for my senior indoor cats. The chicken meal & rice recipe is their favorite. Ingredients in Blackwood cat food are mostly real meat, and digestion seems easier on them than other brands. I rotate wet food like Nature’s Domain or Pure Cravings for hydration. I’ve found Blackwood cat food in Malaysia stores and Shopee, but Amazon is most reliable for bulk. Price is higher than Nutra Nuggets, but my cats’ shiny coats and energy levels make it worth it. Definitely a good premium alternative to Royal Canin.
Water fountain accessibility dramatically improves hydration on dry food diets. My cat drinks significantly more from moving water fountain than bowl. Adequate water intake on dry food diet requires encouraging drinking through fountains, multiple water stations, fresh water frequently. Effort required but effective.
Merrick got acquired by Purina few years back which bothers some people. Company maintains it operates independently with same recipes and facilities. Product quality seems consistent based on my experience before and after acquisition. Some prefer supporting independent companies though. Just something to know if corporate ownership influences your purchasing decisions.
