I always thought fish-based snacks were too smelly, but freeze dried cat treats minnows changed my mind. Yes, they smell like the ocean in a bag, but that’s what makes my cat obsessed. I add them to Pure Cravings salmon every other day, and she demolishes her bowl. What I love most is the ingredient list: literally just fish. Minnow freeze dried cat treats feel safer than mixing random multi-flavor snacks, and they’re perfect for high-protein diets. Plus, they keep teeth busy without being too hard.

Hound & Gatos dry cat food is holding up really well. I’ve been feeding my cats the chicken & liver dry formula, rotating with the rabbit and duck canned food. They’re finishing meals quickly and seem happy. I checked the ingredients, and it’s clearly high-quality. I compared hound & gatos cat food reviews to Nature’s Domain and Nutra Nuggets, and it seems cleaner and less processed. Availability online and in stores is decent. My cats’ digestion is normal, and they’re excited for every meal. Definitely a brand I’d recommend for anyone looking for premium wet and dry food.

I’m trying to see if RAWZ chicken cat food helps with my cat’s allergies. The fact that their dry RAWZ cat food is meal-free makes me feel better about giving it regularly. The RAWZ cat food nutrition profile looks cleaner than most mid-range brands. I still rotate Nature’s Domain or Pure Cravings depending on availability. If anyone’s wondering where to buy RAWZ cat food in Canada, I found some at a Toronto specialty store. Not cheap, but at least it’s fresh. Just wish RAWZ had more shredded salmon options.

My senior cat has been eating Nom Nom chicken chow meow cat food. I’m really impressed with the ingredients in Nom Nom cat food high-quality protein and digestible nutrients. Hairballs have reduced, coat is shinier, and digestion is smoother. I rotate wet options like Nom Nom fresh cat food or Nutra Nuggets dry cat food. Amazon and the official Nom Nom store are convenient sources, though monthly cost is higher than Kirkland Signature. For the visible improvements in coat, digestion, and energy, it feels worth it as a premium fresh cat food option.

My cat had digestive issues on Nutra Nuggets, so I switched to Dave’s Wet Cat Food after a friend’s recommendation. Total game changer. The naturally healthy line smells like real meat and doesn’t cause bloating. I love that they even have low magnesium and phosphorus recipes for older cats. It’s nice finding a brand that’s transparent about ingredients. I still wonder about the “Dave the Diver Cat Food” meme though whoever made that deserves a medal. 😂 Anyway, Dave’s is staying on our shelf for good.

Small indie brands sometimes offer quality without marketing budgets consuming resources. However, some basic online presence should exist even for tiny operations website, social media, something. Complete absence suggests either brand new startup or operation not invested in customer communication whatsoever. Either raises serious questions about long-term viability and professional commitment.

    PRICING CONTEXT:

    Simply Nourish: $2.20-$2.80 per pound
    Authority (PetSmart): $1.70-$2.20 per pound
    Natural Balance: $2.80-$3.40 per pound
    Wellness: $2.60-$3.20 per pound
    Blue Buffalo: $2.50-$3.00 per pound

Simply Nourish prices above PetSmart’s basic Authority line but below dedicated natural brands. The positioning makes sense for mid-premium natural store brand. Comparable to mainstream premium brands. Reasonable pricing for the natural ingredient focus.

NUTRISH EXPERIENCE – April 2024 to October 2024

    Testing affordable alternative:

April (Weeks 1-2): Purchased Nutrish Zero Grain chicken formula. Previously feeding premium brand costing twice as much. Started transitioning slowly, mixing approximately 25% Nutrish with current food. My cat Max showed no hesitation eating it.

April (Weeks 3-4): Increased ratio to about half and half. Digestion remained normal with firm stools. No vomiting or upset during transition which sometimes happens with food changes. Good indication his system tolerated it.

May: Completed switch to full Nutrish. Within a month, honestly couldn’t tell much difference from premium brand we’d been using. His coat looked the same, energy similar, appetite consistent. Vet appointment that month showed healthy weight and no concerns.

June-July: Two to three months in and everything remained stable. His coat maintained decent condition. Weight stayed appropriate. Digestion continued working properly. Nothing remarkable but also nothing concerning.

August-September: Four to five months feeding Nutrish. Tried the salmon variety for change. He accepted it equally well. His overall health remained consistent across both proteins. Started feeling confident this was adequate nutrition for him.

October (Current): Six months on Nutrish now. My cat’s health hasn’t suffered compared to more expensive food. He’s maintaining proper weight, coat looks acceptable, energy appropriate for his age. Bloodwork at recent checkup came back fine.

Budget impact: Saving roughly $25-30 monthly compared to previous premium brand. Over six months saved $150+ with no negative health effects.
